Finally putting out my new AI short film! As previously mentioned, it's a tie-in with the book I made in 2023, called Terror in the AIlien Realms.

MY ARTISTIC STATEMENT:
On why using AI?
I've written a bunch of feature film scripts in the past, ranging from niche to very accessible. But I never got around to finding a producer and/or funds to make them happen. This is sadly, not uncommon for many filmmakers and is not a complaint either. As artists, we always have to prove ourselves worthy when asking for help. However unfortunate it may be, it's totally understandable that there is not enough money for every single project to be realized, whether due to lack of funds, creators not being in the right circles, stories being too obtuse, amateur, or completely misunderstood. This has always been the nature of the beast, for better or for worse. But this is not the case anymore!
In my earlier days, I would eventually abandon that phase, use my own hard-earned money, and take on every film crew job necessary to bring my movie ideas to life. Three feature films later, along with other projects, I'm now 53 years old and can't do every production job anymore. My health can't sustain long shooting days, and my ambitious artistic film dreams would have still required more traditional resources to be realized. Cut to 2022: Enter the technology that would become my savior—AI.
I'm now free to reach most of my creative goals with these wonderful new tools, which are democratizing the expression of very unique and bold artists. I'm also very well aware of how this big change is disrupting the industry, plus I have honest and serious empathy for how some people's lives will be affected and how difficult it can be to change careers once you've achieved a level of comfort in the business. This applies to any technological revolution or societal transformation, for that matter. But, as a result, this will unleash dormant or brand new sets of unique artistic visions and open the world to completely novel and previously unthinkable filmic creations! And it has already started, having myself seen many great works! Yes, there will be lots of "AI slop," but out of the naturally chaotic environment will rise a new Movie Renaissance, one that no one can yet fully comprehend in terms of how wildly fantastic this transition will be. And it will only get better. But do understand that I still love traditional movies and will watch plenty more for years to come. I just have no problem with AI ones peacefully cohabiting.
I have chosen to embrace the movement and also encourage any traditional artist to up their game, because whether one likes it or not, we ARE in a different world and everyone has a chance to play now. So don't miss the boat, get past the purists moaning and barking, as it will only cause you to lose precious time!
